Robert Swanson, originally from Bonners Ferry, Idaho, is a PhD candidate at the University of Missouri. His work focuses on American 19th Century politics, antislavery, and religion. He received his bachelor's in history from Brigham Young University and a master's in history from Rutgers University–Camden. He has published in various journals, including the Journal of Mormon History, The New American Antiquarian, American Nineteenth-Century History, the Journal of Pennsylvania History, and New Jersey Studies. He also works as a research assistant at the State Historical Society of Missouri.
