I have had a lifelong interest in naval history since I was very young. Born in Montreal, Quebec, I was educated at McGill University (B.A. 1991, M.A. 1994, Ph.D. 2003). My Ph.D. dissertation was “The North American Squadron of the Royal Navy 1807-1815”, dealing with events leading up to and including the naval campaign of the War of 1812. I have worked since 2001 as a researcher for the Canadian government dealing with the Indian Residential School settlement and other Indigenous legal issues.
