I have been a reenactor for twenty-seven years portraying a British engineering officer, often as the camp quartermaster at Boston Garrison events. I am also an eleven-year volunteer, in period uniform, at Minuteman National Historic Park, averaging over 350 hours per year. I can usually be found at the grave of the British Soldiers at the North Bridge, or in poor weather, at the Minuteman visitors center Lexington Lincoln town line, where many of the park rangers say, “I’m likely the most photographed man in New England!” I give the perspective from the “other side” of the conflict; my fifth great-grandfather was disarmed by the local committee of safety for wanting to remain neutral.
