Sam Edwards is a Reader (Assoc. Prof) in History at Manchester Metropolitan University in the UK. His research explores war, commemoration, and transatlantic relations, and he has published widely on these subjects, including a book, Allies in Memory (Cambridge University Press, 2015) which was shortlisted for the Royal Historical Society's Gladstone Prize. A recognized authority on Anglo-American relations, Sam has provided expert commentary to BBC TV and Radio, Sky News, and CNN, and he writes and blogs for various outlets, including The Independent (UK). Sam is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society and a Fulbright Scholar (2010), and in 2022 he is a Research Fellow in Residence at the Fred. W. Smith National Library for the Study of George Washington, Mount Vernon, Virginia
