Patricia Marker Hinton, a native of rural north Florida, is a semi-retired political science instructor. A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Florida State University, she holds masters and doctorate degrees from Valdosta State University. Her current research focuses on the 4th South Carolina Artillery—tracing the fates of artillerymen taken prisoner at the fall of Charleston. Another area of interest is free African-American Patriots of South Carolina, particularly those not yet known. A member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and a Florida Pioneer, she wrote Tracking a South Carolina Patriot: Nicholas Prince and the American Revolution (Booklocker.com, 2017).
