Darren R. Reid

Darren R. Reid

Darren R. Reid is a lecturer in history at Coventry University. His core research is concerned with the role played by violence in the shaping of early American society and its role in the creation of specific forms of Native American ‘Otherness’ which have helped to shape American cultural interactions and developments within mainstream American social spaces. Reid is specifically interested in the ways in which lived experiences are transformed from subjective and nuanced memories through codification and canonisation. Much of Reid’s research is concerned with exploring the intersection of race and the imagination, exploring the creation of powerful media narratives which fictionalise historic events in a way which justifies later policies and attitudes.
