Robert Ford graduated from Washington and Lee University in 1977 and completed a tour of duty as an officer in the U.S. Army. He returned to graduate school, obtaining a J.D. degree from Wake Forest University. He practiced for over thirty years as a trial lawyer, specializing in medical malpractice cases. While a lawyer, he published extensively on legal issues. Since retirement, he has pursued a lifelong interest in the history of the Revolutionary War. He is the author of The Battle of Cowpens, Reexamined, due to be released in 2025 by Blackwater Press.
