John Hanc is a New York-based journalist, writer, educator and publishing consultant. He has authored, co-written or been the developmental editor for over 25 nonfiction books. He also teaches nonfiction writing at Fordham University. As a journalist, Hanc has written about a range of topics, including fitness, brain health, innovation and entrepreneurship, as well as museums and history. His writing on the American Revolution has appeared in The New York Times, Smithsonian, Canada’s National Post and Newsday. Over the past five years, more than a dozen of his articles for Newsday on various aspects of Long Island history, including the Revolution, have won awards in regional journalism competitions.
