Author: Franklin D. Rausch

Franklin Rausch is a professor of history at Lander University where he teaches courses on world, East Asian, religious, and public history. His research focuses primarily on Catholicism in Korea, but he also does work on the use of games in the classroom and leads Lander’s Experiencing History Lab. He volunteers as a living historian, particularly at Ninety Six National Historic Site, where he serves on the swivel gun crew. His experiences at that site led him to research and write the present article. He lives in Greenwood, South Carolina with his wife and two sons. They are also blessed to have his parents living with them. He would like to thank Rick Morris and Ranger Adrian Stewart of Ninety Six for introducing him to its history.
